Paris - Friday September 26th to Saturday September 27th
Friday September 26th
After a leisurely breakfast I took a couple of happy snaps of the garden at Patrick & Claude's guest house before heading into town to drop the car off and catch the awsome (320kph) TGV to Paris. We arrived in Paris early afternoon, checked into the hotel and then set out for a beer and look around. We wandered past the Bastille and onto Notre Dame where we had a look at the roman ruins under the forecourt to the cathedral.

Saturday September 27th
The only thing planned for today was a visit to the Catacombs of Paris. The visit explained the limestone mining origins of the catacombs, the later collapses of the largely forgotten quarry tunnels and their eventual use for relocating the bones of about 6 million Parisians from the many cemeteries to make way for the expansion of the city. In the evening it was another stroll through the streets and another wonderful dinner at a cosy sidewalk restaurant.
